These two had an incredible wedding this weekend!  Today I am sharing their engagement session but stay tuned for some images from their beautiful wedding.

First off, Robbie and Sofia were a breeze to photograph.  The connection they share is amazing and it shines through in all of their photographs.  He simply adores her and it is evident that she is crazy about him!  The two were separated by many miles, as Sofia is from Lima, Peru, but found each other in the beautiful mountains of Snowshoe, WV five years ago.  They are excited to begin their life together here.

Check out their session at Robbie’s home place, such a beautiful, cozy place with a great wooded hideaway.  I wish this couple a lifetime of love and happiness!

I absolutely fell in love with photographing maternity sessions after this!  We did a little of both for this session with outdoor and a few indoor lifestyle portraits.  This great friend of mine and her precious family is anxiously awaiting the birth of the next member of their family.  What is even cooler is they are waiting till the birth to find out the gender of the baby… what a wonderful surprise!  Heather and Russ are currently blessed with two wonderful boys and I can’t wait to meet their new little one.

So, I already said that this made me fall in love with maternity sessions but there is one more thing that is even more awesome… photographing their birth session.  I am so excited to be documenting this monumental day for this family!

With thoughts of Spring I have been making some Spring resolutions (yeah I like making resolutions not just at the New Year, all year).  My goal is to share some more personal aspects of my family and I.  To get started we had a BIG day in the Lewis household yesterday.  Our little man attended his first day of “school”.  Ok, so maybe it is a little less school and a lot more play at this age but either way it was an exciting day and I can’t wait to see what new things he learns.

I was worried he would cry and not want me to leave but I walked away without any reaction from him.  He is a bit attached to me so this was quite surprising.  I thought I would be more worried… I don’t leave him much and it is always with grandparent’s when I do.  I felt a great peace about it and as I ran errands I kept thinking, they will call me any minute to come back early but the phone never rang and I came back 3 1/2 hours later to my little man playing and having a good ole’ time… he did get quite attached to one of the teachers but a no tears first day was a super blessing.  He will be attending one day a week in this great program our town offers.

I’m not sure how this day got here.  I’ve always seen him as a baby but I definitely see the “big boy” coming out.  Here are a few memories from our “BIG day”:

~ Arriving for his first day… “Mom, what are we doing?”

~ My first peak… a cool little window that you can see in but they can’t see you (secret agent mom)!  🙂

~ Oh geez, his first artwork.  This makes my heart happy (and yes it is on the fridge)!

~ Post-nap red face… so much excitement makes for a tired boy.

~ These little feet remind me of just how little he really is… I love when he crosses them.

I know that not everyone will see the beauty that I see in these photographs.  Art and beauty are both subjective… that is what makes it so interesting.  Beauty is in whatever makes you smile.  So, I hope this post made you smile.  I hope it made you reflect on life.  I hope it makes you cherish each moment… the good, the challenging, and everything in between.

  • Gena - It definitely made me smile!ReplyCancel

  • Rebecca Daniels - Yes, I was wondering if you could email me a price list for seniors? My step son will be graduating this year. Also if you were to do the picture show long would it take for the photos to come in?ReplyCancel

I adore photographing families.  There is something about the dynamic of a family session that I just love… from capturing the bond between mom and child to the playfulness that I always find between dad and child.  The Winters family booked my last session for 2014 and it turned out to be a beautiful evening for late December.  Their little man was just too cute!
